Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Skewers
- 1 lb chicken tenders, cut into 3″ pieces
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water for at least 30 minutes
Garlic Parmesan Sauce
- 1 stick butter (8 tablespoons)
- 8-10 cloves garlic, minced
- Grated Parmesan cheese, to taste (about ½ cup)
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
Garnish
- Chopped fresh parsley
- Additional grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Soak the Skewers: Begin by soaking the wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning during cooking.
- Season the Chicken: In a bowl, combine the chicken tender pieces with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and olive oil. Toss well to ensure each piece is evenly coated with the seasoning blend.
- Assemble the Skewers: Thread the seasoned chicken pieces tightly onto the soaked wooden skewers, making sure the chicken fits snugly to cook evenly.
- Prepare Garlic Parmesan Sauce: Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese and hot sauce, mixing until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth. Remove from heat and keep warm.
- Air Fry the Chicken Skewers: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the skewers in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for about 12-15 minutes, turning halfway through, basting with the garlic parmesan sauce each time to build a glossy, flavorful coating and to keep the chicken moist.
- Finish and Serve: Once the chicken is cooked through and has a crispy exterior, give the skewers a final baste with the sauce, then sprinkle generously with additional Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- Soaking wooden skewers prevents them from burning in the air fryer.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes and hot sauce depending on your spice preference.
- If you don’t have an air fryer, you can grill or broil the skewers, but cooking times may vary.
- Make sure chicken pieces are uniform in size to cook evenly.
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor and melting quality.
