Ingredients
Scale
Base Mixture
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 300 ml (Canada), 14 oz (US)
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups dried coconut, fine or medium cut (unsweetened preferred)
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
Coating
- Additional graham cracker crumbs for rolling the cookie balls
Instructions
- Combine Wet Ingredients: Melt the butter and mix it thoroughly with the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Stir in the graham cracker crumbs, dried coconut, and chocolate chips. Mix everything together until the ingredients are evenly combined.
- Chill Mixture: Refrigerate the mixture for about an hour to firm it up, making it easier to shape the cookie balls without sticking.
- Shape Balls: Roll the chilled mixture into small balls about 1 1/4 inches in diameter. Keeping them small is important as they are rich and dense.
- Coat Balls: Roll the formed balls in additional graham cracker crumbs to coat them evenly for added texture and flavor.
- Final Chill: Return the coated cookie balls to the refrigerator until they are firm and ready to serve.
- Storage: Store the Moose Farts in a sealed container in the refrigerator to keep them fresh and maintain their texture.
Notes
- Use unsweetened coconut to balance the sweetness from the condensed milk and chocolate chips.
- The cookie balls should be kept small because they are very rich and dense.
- Refrigeration is key both before shaping and after coating to ensure balls hold their shape.
- These treats do not require baking and are quick to prepare once ingredients are mixed.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
