Description

The No Name Dip is a creamy, cheesy, and savory party dip that’s perfect for gatherings and casual snacking. This easy-to-make dip combines cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar, crispy bacon, green onions, and ranch seasoning for a flavorful, crowd-pleasing appetizer that requires no cooking beyond bacon preparation.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup chopped green onions
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (about 1 oz)

Bacon

  • 6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled

Optional

  • 1–2 tablespoons hot sauce or 1 jalapeño, diced

Instructions

  1. Cook Bacon: Cook the bacon until it’s crispy, then let it cool completely. Once cooled, crumble the bacon into small pieces to ensure it mixes well into the dip and adds texture.
  2. Prepare Ingredients: Chop the green onions thoroughly and shred the cheddar cheese if you are starting with a block to ensure even mixing and flavor distribution.
  3. Mix Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Mix until the mixture is smooth and creamy, which forms the base of your dip.
  4. Add Seasoning and Cheese: Stir in the ranch seasoning packet followed by the shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well to incorporate all the flavors evenly throughout the dip.
  5. Fold in Bacon and Onions: Gently fold in the chopped green onions and most of the crumbled bacon, saving some bacon bits for garnishing on top.
  6. Chill the Dip: Transfer the dip into a serving dish and refrigerate it for at least 1 hour. This chilling time allows the flavors to meld and the dip to firm up for the best texture.
  7. Garnish: Just before serving, sprinkle the remaining bacon and a small amount of cheddar cheese on top to add a decorative and flavorful finish.
  8. Serve: Serve the dip chilled with your favorite crackers, chips, or fresh vegetable sticks for dipping and enjoying.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, add 1–2 tablespoons of hot sauce or diced jalapeño to the dip mixture.
  • The dip can be made a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator for convenience.
  • Use thick-cut bacon for more texture and flavor.
  • Stir the dip before serving if it has been refrigerated for a long time to restore creaminess.
  • This dip is great for parties, potlucks, and casual get-togethers.
