Ingredients
Scale
Dumplings and Vegetables
- 14–20 frozen dumplings (depending on dish size)
- 2 cups broccoli florets, trimmed into small pieces
Peanut Sauce
- 2 cups broth or water
- â…” cup creamy peanut butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
Garnishes
- ¼ cup sliced green onions
- ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 2–4 tablespoons chili crisp (optional, for spice)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a medium casserole dish or oven-safe braiser to bake the dumplings evenly.
- Make Peanut Sauce: Pour the broth into the baking dish and add creamy peanut butter, minced garlic, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Whisk the ingredients until mostly smooth to form a flavorful peanut sauce base.
- Arrange Dumplings: Place the frozen dumplings flat-side down into the sauce within the baking dish, then spoon some of the sauce over each dumpling to coat them thoroughly.
- Add Broccoli: Arrange the broccoli florets around the dumplings in the dish, ensuring they are partially submerged in the peanut sauce for even cooking and flavor infusion.
- Bake Covered: Cover the casserole dish with a lid or foil and bake in the oven for 20 minutes to cook the dumplings and steam the broccoli.
- Thicken Sauce: Remove the cover carefully, stir the sauce gently to combine any separated ingredients, and let the dish sit uncovered for 5 minutes. This allows the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Garnish: Sprinkle sliced green onions, chopped cilantro, sesame seeds, and optional chili crisp over the dumplings and broccoli to add freshness, texture, and a bit of heat.
- Serve: Serve the dumplings directly from the baking dish while warm, enjoying the creamy peanut sauce and savory garnishes.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of chili crisp to your preferred spice level, or omit if you prefer a milder dish.
- You can use vegetable or chicken broth depending on your dietary preferences or what you have on hand.
- Ensure dumplings are frozen before baking to maintain their shape and texture.
- This recipe works well with store-bought frozen dumplings of any filling type.
- For a gluten-free version, choose gluten-free dumplings and soy sauce.
