Description

A refreshing and light Sour Melon Spritzer made with ripe honeydew, fresh lime juice, mint leaves, and sparkling water. This chilled beverage is perfect for a hot day, offering a tangy, sweet, and minty flavor that’s both hydrating and invigorating.

Ingredients

Scale

Sour Melon Base

  • 1 medium ripe honeydew, cubed
  • 2 limes, zested
  • 2/3 cup lime juice (about 4 medium limes)
  • 1/2 cup loosely packed fresh mint leaves

To Serve

  • Sparkling water or club soda, chilled
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wedges for garnish
  • Honeydew balls for garnish
  • Fresh mint sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Blend the sour melon base: In a blender, combine the cubed honeydew, lime zest, lime juice, and mint leaves. Blend on medium-high speed for about 2 minutes until the mixture is smooth and frothy, ensuring all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Strain and store: Pour the blended sour melon mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl to remove pulp and any fibrous parts. Alternatively, use a nut milk bag for thorough straining. Transfer the smooth concentrate into a jar and refrigerate until ready to use.
  3. Make the spritzer: When ready to serve, fill a glass halfway with ice cubes. Garnish with lime wedges, honeydew balls, and a sprig of fresh mint. Pour 1/2 cup of the sour melon base over the ice, then top with 1/2 cup of sparkling water or club soda. Stir gently to combine and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • To make honeydew balls, use a melon baller on the sliced honeydew for an attractive garnish.
  • Adjust the amount of lime juice according to your preference for tartness.
  • For a sweeter version, add a teaspoon of honey or agave syrup before blending.
  • The sour melon base can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Use chilled sparkling water for the best refreshing effect.
