Description

These Turkey Cranberry Sliders are a delicious and festive way to enjoy leftover turkey, perfect for holiday gatherings or casual snacks. Soft dinner rolls are layered with tangy mustard, creamy mayonnaise, savory turkey, optional rich gravy, sweet cranberry sauce, and melted Swiss cheese, all topped with a flavorful garlic butter glaze and baked until golden and melty.

Ingredients

Scale

Sliders

  • 12 plain white soft dinner rolls (or slider buns)
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup (60 g) whole-egg mayonnaise
  • 2 cups leftover chopped/shredded/sliced turkey, with or without skin
  • ¼ cup (60 g) leftover gravy (optional)
  • ¼ cup (70 g) cranberry sauce
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese (or cheese of choice: provolone, gouda, mozzarella, or brie)

Garlic Butter Glaze

  • 80 g (2¾ oz) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped flat-leaf parsley
  • ½ tsp sea salt flakes
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) or 180°C (350°F) if using a fan-forced setting. This ensures the sliders will bake evenly and the cheese will melt perfectly.
  2. Assemble the sliders: If your rolls are attached in a slab, keep them together and slice horizontally in half. Spread the mustard evenly over the bottom halves, then spread the mayonnaise over the mustard for a creamy base layer.
  3. Layer the filling: Evenly distribute the leftover turkey pieces over the mayonnaise layer. If you have leftover gravy, drizzle it lightly over the turkey for added moisture and flavor. Spoon small dollops of cranberry sauce on top to provide a sweet, tangy contrast.
  4. Add the cheese: Place the slices of Swiss cheese over the turkey and cranberry sauce, making sure to cover as much surface as possible. Overlapping slices are fine. Then place the top halves of the rolls back onto the sliders to enclose the filling.
  5. Make the garlic butter glaze: In a small bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter with the chopped parsley, sea salt flakes, and garlic powder. Stir well to create a flavorful glaze that will brush onto the rolls.
  6. Brush and bake: Generously brush the tops of the rolls with the garlic butter glaze, reserving about one tablespoon if you want an extra glossy finish later. Cover the dish with foil to prevent over-browning and bake for 15 minutes. Afterward, remove the foil and bake for an additional 8–10 minutes until the tops are golden and the cheese is fully melted.
  7. Finish and serve: Once baked, run a knife carefully between the rolls to separate them. Optionally brush the tops with the reserved garlic butter glaze for an extra sheen and burst of flavor. Serve immediately to enjoy the sliders warm and melty.

Notes

  • If you don’t have plain white soft dinner rolls, slider buns or small brioche buns work great as substitutes.
  • For the turkey, use leftover roasted turkey or deli turkey slices. Using skin-on turkey will add more flavor, but skinless works fine too.
  • The gravy is optional but highly recommended if you have some leftovers to enhance moisture and savoriness.
  • You can swap Swiss cheese with other melty cheeses like provolone, gouda, mozzarella, or brie depending on your preference.
  • These sliders are best served fresh out of the oven but can be kept warm covered with foil for a short time.
