Description

Valentine Bark is a delightful layered chocolate treat perfect for celebrating love. This easy-to-make recipe combines smooth semi-sweet and white chocolate with a crunchy and colorful assortment of crushed pretzels, mini marshmallows, heart-shaped sprinkles, and festive red and pink M&M’s. Finished with a pinch of sea salt for balanced flavor, this bark is a perfect sweet and salty snack or gift for Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Base

  • 12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 12 oz. white chocolate chips

Toppings

  • 1 cup crushed pretzels
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • ½ cup heart-shaped sprinkles
  • ½ cup red and pink M&M’s
  • ¼ cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • A pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to ensure easy removal of the bark later.
  2. Melt Semi-Sweet Chocolate: Place the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Spread Semi-Sweet Chocolate Base: Pour the melted semi-sweet chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet and use a spatula to spread it into an even layer.
  4. Chill Semi-Sweet Base: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to let the chocolate set firmly.
  5. Melt White Chocolate: While the base is chilling, melt the white chocolate chips using the same microwave method as before until smooth.
  6. Spread White Chocolate Layer: Pour the melted white chocolate over the set semi-sweet chocolate base and spread it evenly with a spatula.
  7. Add Toppings: Immediately sprinkle the crushed pretzels, mini marshmallows, heart-shaped sprinkles, red and pink M&M’s, and optional chopped nuts evenly over the white chocolate layer. Press them gently to adhere well.
  8. Add Sea Salt: Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the top to enhance the flavor profile with a subtle contrast.
  9. Chill Final Layer: Return the baking sheet to the refrigerator and chill for an additional 15 minutes to fully set all layers.
  10. Break Into Pieces: Once completely set, lift the bark off the parchment paper and break or cut it into bite-sized pieces for serving or gifting.

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor and smooth texture.
  • The optional chopped nuts can be omitted for a nut-free version.
  • Adjust toppings based on your preference or dietary restrictions.
  • Store the bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep it fresh and crisp.
  • Allow bark pieces to come to room temperature slightly before serving for optimal taste and texture.
