Ingredients
Scale
Pie Crust
- 1 pre-made pie crust
Vegetables
- 1 cup chopped kale
- 1 cup diced butternut squash
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/2 cup diced onion
Custard & Cheese
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it reaches the ideal temperature for baking the quiche evenly.
- Sauté Vegetables: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion, sliced mushrooms, and butternut squash; sauté until tender, about 5 to 7 minutes. Then add the chopped kale and cook until wilted, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare Custard Mixture: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the 4 large eggs, 1 cup of milk, salt, and pepper until fully combined and slightly frothy, forming the quiche custard base.
- Assemble Quiche: Place the pre-made pie crust into a pie dish. Evenly distribute the sautéed vegetables over the crust. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the vegetables, then sprinkle shredded cheese over the top for a flavorful finish.
- Bake: Transfer the assembled quiche to the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the quiche from the oven and let it cool for several minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature for best taste.
Notes
- You can substitute kale with spinach or swiss chard if preferred.
- Feel free to use your favorite cheese such as Gruyère or mozzarella for different flavors.
- Ensure the vegetables are fully cooked and drained of excess moisture to prevent a soggy crust.
- Letting the quiche cool slightly before slicing helps it set properly and eases cutting.
- This quiche can be prepared a day ahead and reheated gently in the oven.
