Description

This classic Christmas Pumpkin Pie is a delicious and festive dessert perfect for holiday celebrations. With a smooth pumpkin filling infused with warm spices and baked in a flaky pie crust, it offers a comforting and flavorful treat loved by many.

Ingredients

Scale

Pie Crust

  • 1 pie crust

Filling

  • 2 cups pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven. Set your oven to 425°F (220°C) to get it ready for baking the pumpkin pie.
  2. Prepare the pie crust. Roll out the pie crust and place it evenly in a pie dish, ensuring it fits snugly without air pockets.
  3. Make the filling. In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, heavy cream, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground ginger, ground cloves, and salt. Mix thoroughly until the filling is smooth and well blended.
  4. Fill the pie crust. Pour the pumpkin mixture carefully into the prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly.
  5. Begin baking at high temperature. Place the pie in the oven and bake for 15 minutes at 425°F (220°C) to set the crust and start the cooking process.
  6. Continue baking at lower temperature. Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 40-50 minutes. The pie is done when a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool before serving. Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool completely to room temperature for best flavor and consistency before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh or canned pumpkin puree for convenience.
  • Adjust sweetness to taste by varying the sugar quantities.
  • Allow the pie to cool completely to let the filling set properly.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute the pie crust with a gluten-free alternative.
  • Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra festive treat.
