Description

Delicious and comforting Lasagna Roll Ups made with a creamy ricotta and mozzarella cheese filling, layered with savory ground beef and spaghetti sauce, then baked to bubbly perfection. An easy twist on classic lasagna that makes serving and portioning a breeze for family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese Filling

  • 1 container (15 ounces) Ricotta Cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 ½ teaspoons dried Parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder

Meat Sauce

  • 1/2 pound lean Ground Beef
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) Spaghetti Sauce

Others

  • 9 Lasagna Noodles
  • 1 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 cup shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, beaten egg, dried parsley, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly to create a creamy filling. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate while preparing noodles and sauce.
  2. Cook Lasagna Noodles: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and carefully lay the noodles out on a large cookie sheet lined with wax paper, spacing them apart to prevent sticking.
  3. Prepare Meat Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess grease. Add the jar of spaghetti sauce to the meat and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes until heated through. Reserve about one-third of this meat sauce to spread in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  4. Assemble Roll Ups: Retrieve the cheese filling from the fridge. Spread approximately 1/4 cup of the cheese mixture evenly over each lasagna noodle. Carefully roll each noodle up, starting from one end, and place them seam-side down in the baking dish on top of the meat sauce.
  5. Add Sauce and Cheese Topping: Pour the remaining meat sauce evenly over the assembled roll ups. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly across the top.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the dish is hot, bubbly, and the cheese on top has melted and slightly browned. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Boil noodles al dente to ensure they hold shape when rolled.
  • Use lean ground beef to reduce grease and calories.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or plant-based meat for a healthier or vegetarian option.
  • Make ahead by assembling the roll ups and refrigerating before baking.
  • Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For extra flavor, add fresh basil or oregano to the cheese filling.
